The World Championship for the 2022 MotoGP season seemed to be resolved in the middle of the year because Fabio Quartararo escaped at the top of the general classification with a large gap compared to his pursuers. However, misfortune combined with the Frenchman’s mistakes and the lack of performance on his Yamaha have meant that he is no longer the favorite to take the title, but instead it is Pecco Bagnaia who leads the standings with a considerable advantage in the absence of only two races.
The Italian Ducati rider enjoys 14 points over the Frenchman, with 50 still at stake, which means that only two more on the grid can fight for the championship, Aleix Espargaró [27 points away] and Enea Bastianini [42 points away ], third and fourth respectively.

For Bagnaia to be proclaimed MotoGP world champion at the next Malaysian Grand Prix to be held this weekend at the Sepang circuit, he must be at least 25 points behind the second-placed team, which is means that, at least, he must be fifth or better and wait for his rivals.
In case he finishes seventh he will add 11 points , and if Fabio Quartararo does not get any, he will be champion, no matter what Bastianini does, but he must take into account that he only had to be ahead of Espargaró.
However, there are many more combinations, and focusing on Quartararo , the Ducati rider can win the race and the Frenchman does not go beyond fourth place. It can also be second and Fabio seventh; third and 11th; fourth and 14th; fifth and do not score.
In Aleix ‘s case, the Italian just needs to stay ahead of the Aprilia rider, but if the Spaniard wins, the title will travel on the line until the last grand prix in Valencia. If the Catalan is second, the same thing will happen, although Bagnaia will have it easier in Cheste, but if Espargaró is third, the Italian can be fifth and champion, the same as if they are fourth and fifth, fifth and seventh, sixth and eighth, seventh and ninth, eighth and tenth, ninth and 11th, tenth and 12th, 11th and 13th, 12th and 14th, 13th and 15th.
