Crab sticks are a relatively frequent product on our tables, since they are used as a component for salads, in the preparation of toasts and tapas, as part of seafood cocktails, in puff pastry, etc.
Its name can be misleading, since crab sticks are called that because of the shape they have, since it reminds of the legs of this animal, but no, they do not contain crab. Its main component is surimi, a white fish meat that is crushed and mixed with other additives: egg white, salt, starch, sweeteners and colorings.
Very abundant white fish such as Alaska pollock, corvina or hake are generally used.
