What is cellulite due to?

First of all, it must be said that what is commonly known as cellulite is not such, because in reality there is no inflammation of the adipose tissue. Medically it is called edematofibrosclerotic panniculopathy or, in short, liposclerosis . Generally speaking, it is the orange peel or sponge skin that accumulates on the thighs, buttocks and hips of 90% of women at some point in their life. Cellulite skin feels rough and dry, it hurts when pinched and, in advanced stages, edema and nodules appear. Its appearance is related to an alteration in the capillaries that supply adipose tissue , the place where fat is stored . This is kept in compartments called lobes, which have their own capillary, lymphatic and nervous network; and they are different in men and women. In these, the lobes can accumulate fat abnormally due to a multitude of factors: age, heredity, diet, lifestyle and, above all, an increase in estrogen , which makes the blood vessels more permeable.
