Human sexuality is incredibly diverse. However, psychiatrists classify unusual sexual interests as “paraphilias.” Having a paraphilia is not necessarily a sign of a mental disorder, we have already discussed it on occasion, unless it causes distress to one person or harms others.
In this specific case, the Klismafilia or clismafilia consists of receiving enemas (less common is to act as master of the ceremony), while practicing sexual relations (with penetration) or certain erotic games.
The practice of this extravagant paraphilia is accompanied by fetishistic forms through the use or use of knobs, cannulas or other utensils for anal sexual stimulation . It is a practice that entails some danger, since the introduction of a liquid under pressure into such a sensitive area of the body as the rectum can have nothing positive consequences for the recipient.
People who suffer from clismaphilia do not obtain sexual pleasure through the maintenance of a common sexual relationship, but it is a condition sine qua non to receive an enema to feel pleasure or arousal. In extreme cases, clismaphiliacs often pretend to doctors to receive these enemas or even self-harm for the same purpose.
The etymology of the word comes from the Greek : “klister” which means enema and “philía” , love.
Clismaphilia is a specialized paraphilia, recognized in psychology textbooks, that describes the practice of obtaining sexual arousal and the gratification of the use of enemas as we have discussed (that is, cleaning the colonic canal by means of vaginal douches).
Enemas can produce pleasurable or sexual sensations in susceptible individuals through anal stimulation, unusual internal sensations related to colon dilation, or by stimulating rhythmic abdominal muscle contractions that are transmitted to the genital structures and produce sensations related to sex. Some people receive extreme pleasure from the practice, even to the point of being able to orgasm, the ultimate pleasure.
This paraphilia can be practiced individually or with a partner of the opposite sex or the same sex . The psychological factors involved in involving a sexual partner in this paraphilia, or in preparing for the procedure itself, can also provide sexual stimulation for the clismaphilic.
Although practiced in a variety of heterosexual and homosexual relationships, references to clismaphilia in the literature appear to be linked to individuals with an interest in sadomasochistic activities. Less often, some people also get sexual pleasure from giving enemas to other people.
Enemas cause mechanical strain on the rectum that then stimulates the nerve endings that supply the pelvic organs (that is, they stimulate the rectal stretch receptors).
It is a rare paraphilia, although anecdotal case reports abound in the literature. Most paraphilias are lifelong behavioral patterns, while some may be transient in nature. For example, there was the case of a 66-year-old man who began to feel sexual arousal during an enema that was administered for medical reasons and then began to use enemas on a regular basis by himself and also with his partner for sexual gratification. .
