The General Directorate of Traffic has launched the DGT 3.0 platform , which, according to the DGT, allows the different road users to keep connected in real time, offering them, at all times, real-time traffic information and thus allowing them to achieve more mobility. safe and smart.
The objective of this new platform is to reach the objective: 0 deaths, 0 injured, 0 congestion and 0 emissions.
How does DGT 3.0 work?
This will allow reporting, in the DGT cloud, of the planned works, the exact place where each one of those that is being executed begins and ends and in real time.
It will be ready in 2025, when 5G technology is extended in the country . With this new technology, cars will be able to be connected to a central database, and it is what will make users share information in real time.
According to DGT, in 2025, the EU will have invested 3.5 billion euros in a public-private plan for the development of this technology. On this date, urban areas, the main roads and railway lines are expected to already have 5G coverage.
Incidents or traffic jams
In addition to the works that are in each point of the road network in Spain, DGT 3.0 will also provide accurate information on incidents, traffic jams, accidents and everything that happens in traffic.
This is why it is said that there is real-time information on the state of the traffic. Thus, the intelligent mobility platform has successfully passed the halfway point of its development and, with a year and a half to complete this project, it is one of the most advanced and pioneering technological initiatives in Europe.
The organization itself advances that being able to share free and anonymous information with other information providers is essential to create a network that feeds itself practically on its own and that reaches the largest number of citizens possible, and not just the owners of connected vehicles.
Luminous device V-16
The DGT gives more information on this novelty, and specifies that in the month of July the regulation that approves the use of the V-16 luminous device that will replace the triangle in the emergency pre-signaling will be effective .
This device incorporates a geolocation system that will allow all incidents, accidents and breakdowns that occur to be located. And the operators of roadside assistance vehicles (cranes) must communicate telematically the location of the damaged vehicle.
