What is pain and how to treat it? Now you can become an expert

How would you define pain? Anyone at any age has ever experienced physical discomfort of a different nature, be it muscular, derived from the digestive system, neurological …

According to María Isabel Martín Fontelles, –doctor, doctor in Medicine and Surgery and professor of Pharmacology, expert in pain medicine–: “Pain is a sensation that practically any animal can perceive, and it serves as a warning against any internal or external injury. It is a danger information system that is also loaded with emotional content ”.

As much as we are all familiar with pain, the complexity in the ways of treating it requires some knowledge. Not all pain is the same, and there are also different ways of dealing with them: “There are a wide variety of drugs and many ways to treat pain, and they have the great advantage of being able to be combined with each other with lower doses of each of them to adopt in different sites. But these combinations are complex and should never be done without the supervision of a professional ”, explains Martín Fontelles.

All drugs can have side effects, and some are sold freely in pharmacies. For this reason, as the doctor explains: “Self-medication is one of the most frequent mistakes we make.”

“It is also a mistake not to medicate and let the pain pass, because it must be treated as soon as possible,” he continues. “However, any of these decisions must be made with the follow-up of a professional.”

Given that pain of diverse nature is very widespread, and due to the complexity of the different ways that exist to approach its treatment, Apprende Salud launches the Pain Pharmacology Course, taught by Professor María Isabel Martín Fontelles, an eminence in your field.

Do you want to become an expert in pain pharmacology? Would you like to learn what are the most common mistakes we make when we take medication and what we can do to correct them? Do you know which is the most appropriate guideline to follow when we suffer from pain, whether chronic or not?

You do not need to have knowledge of medicine or pharmacy, since this course is aimed at the general public, but it will also be very useful for doctors and physiotherapists.

Endorsed by the Spanish Multidisciplinary Pain Society (SEMDOR), the Madrid Pain Society, and Onelife Center, in the course you will have 90 minutes of learning and material available and accessible for a whole year.
