Stomach protectors, viagra, anti-inflammatories … are part of the usual diet of many people. But, of all the drugs, the most widely used is aspirin . Since the German multinational Bayer put it on sale in 1899 , more than 350 billion tablets have been consumed. It is estimated that 100 million aspirins are taken every day on the planet; Americans alone eat more than 16,000 tons each year.
Spain is not only its third market, after the United States and Germany, but it is also its main producer. The Bayer factory in La Felguera (Asturias) produces 85% of those consumed worldwide.
