The first day of free practice at the Malaysian Grand Prix was full of surprises . FP1 was dominated by Brad Binder, ahead of Alex Rins and Marc Márquez.
The afternoon session was marked by rain, and although rainfall was kept to a minimum during the session, the soaked track affected the records. In these conditions, Cal Crutchlow prevailed as the fastest, ahead of Pecco Bagnaia.
However, the times in the rain were noticeably slower than those in the morning, because the combined classification remains the same as the FP1 table , with Binder leading and Pecco outside the top 10.
