Jorge Martín won the first day of free practice for the Aragón Grand Prix. The one from San Sebastián de los Reyes was the fastest of the combined, with a time of 1:47.402 . Fabio Quartararo was also fast, and was just 70 thousandths behind the Ducati. Johann Zarco completed the places of honor.
Marc Márquez, who was returning to activity after several months off, managed to get into the top ten, and finished eighth, just over three tenths behind Martín. For his part, Aleix Espargaró, who had set the fastest time in the morning session, was not able to ride at the pace of the best in FP2, and closed the day in 13th position.
