It is not easy at all to determine the fertilizing capacity of sperm, because many factors influence. For example, semen must contain the necessary nutrients to feed and stimulate the sperm that swim in it, and these must be generated in high quantities, have normal anatomy and move properly. The World Health Organization (WHO) has established a series of criteria that define when semen is normal. They are as follows:
– Volume of semen in the ejaculate: from 1.5 to 5 ml.
– Number of sperm : more than 20 million per milliliter.
– Appearance of sperm: at least 35% must be normal.
– Sperm motility: You must be over 60%.
– Advancement capacity: At least +2, on a scale from 1 to 4.
– Number of white blood cells : less than 1 million per milliliter of semen.
– Sperm agglomeration : none .
