According to a recent study by the University of Hertfordshire (United Kingdom), when in the morning we feel down and in low spirits we tend to wear jeans . Specifically, in the case of women, more than half of the women claim to wear jeans on those days when they feel depressed , while only a third also wear them on those occasions when they wake up in a good mood. In addition, 57% say they opt for wide t-shirts on "low" days, while only 2% wear this garment when they feel "happy".
According to Karen Pine, co-author of the study, the clothes we choose each morning in front of the closet reflect our mood (and, at the same time, influence it). In fact, the well-being or emotional discomfort can be modified by changing the outfit. "The study demonstrates the psychological power of clothing and how the right choice can affect our levels of happiness," explains Pine. "Dressing ourselves to feel happy, in the case of women, implies putting aside the jeans", concludes the researcher.
As for accessories, the probability of wearing a hat or cap doubles when we feel in a good mood .
