Which F1 circuit has the most corners in the 2022 season?

Formula 1 is the highest category of motorsport and therefore, they are the fastest single-seaters on the planet around circuits around the world with the best twenty drivers today. During each weekend, the Great Circus meets to find out who is the fastest on the grid, so the layouts are essential.

For this reason, a very curious question arises around a topic and that few stop to think throughout an entire season, but which is undoubtedly the one that generates the action that is seen on television and the duels in parallel, and is none other than the curves.

Some categories are performed without almost having to turn, as it happens on the ovals with IndyCar or NASCAR races, but in Formula 1, turns from one side to the other are the essence.

So how many corners does each F1 track have?

Let’s start with the simplest circuit in theory, since it is the one with the fewest curves, the Red Bull Ring, with only 10 , which makes it the fastest one to complete a lap, just over a minute.

This Austrian layout is followed by Monza, the Temple of Speed, which has 11 turns composed mainly of chicanes and left and right variants that make it the track with the highest average in history, 264.363 km/h at the hands of Lewis Hamilton in 2020.

To find the following tracks you have to jump, since the Hungaroring, Montreal’s Gilles-Villeneuve and Zandvoort have 14 corners , and as a curiosity, all of them are below 1:13 in the classification. Paul Ricard, Sakhir and Interlagos have just one more turn, 15 curves that make up layouts as different as they are entertaining, since there are sectors for single-seaters with a better engine and other areas where it is possible to stand out with a good chassis.

Moving on to the group of tracks with 16 curves are Yas Marina, who usually closes the season with tremendous endings such as in 2021 with the fight between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton, or in 2016, with the Briton himself and his then partner at Mercedes, Nico Rosberg, in addition to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya and the renovated Albert Park in Australia.

The Hermanos Rodríguez Autodrome is the only track with 17 curves and, despite its high number, it is one of those that are completed in the shortest time, since its record is 1:14.759 thanks to what Daniel Ricciardo did in 2018 with his Red Bull.

Moving on to those with 18 curves , we find two mythical ones, the place where Formula 1 was born back on May 13, 1950, Silverstone, and the track in the country of the Rising Sun, Suzuka, one of the favorites of the pilots. , while Spa-Francorchamps, Miami, Imola and Monaco have 19 turns .

On the podium of circuits with the most curves are those of Baku and Austin, which with their 20 laps are very close to the 23 of Marina Bay in Singapore, in the middle of the Asian city when night falls and the lights come on.

And at the top, as champion of this curious classification is a recent addition to the Great Circus calendar, Saudi Arabia, which with its urban layout of Jeddah with 27 curves gives us special races skimming the walls under the moonlight.
