Does your voice sound better when you sing a song in the shower ? The key is in physics. The hard, smooth bathroom walls make this room act as a sounding board , so that sound waves are reflected off the walls, increasing the intensity of the sound and making our voice seem much more powerful. Also, due to the reverberation, the voice stays in the air for longer after each note is emitted.
As if that were not enough, the low notes sound more and stay longer in the air than the high ones . Since it is in the low notes where we " amateur singers" miss the least, the melody sounds almost as good as it would in a recording studio.
