The Cypres Demo Team already set a world record in 2017, but was then outbid by a jump team in Dubai. Now there was a new attempt via Paderborn.
Büren – According to the organizers, a group of parachutists successfully completed a world record attempt with a spectacular jump on Saturday in Paderborn. The jumpers unfolded a Germany flag that was more than 6000 square meters in size in the air.
“The flag was completely unfolded. So the attempt was successful, “said a spokeswoman. She assumes that the jumpers will make it into the Guinness Book of Records.
It was a record attempt with obstacles. Because of the dense cloud cover, the jumpers had to postpone their start from Paderborn-Lippstadt Airport. After jumping from around 3500 meters above sea level, the practiced procedures worked well. However, the flag did not float down onto the airport as planned, but landed on trees in a neighboring forest area, driven off by the wind.
The subsequent measurement of the flag for the record book therefore had to be canceled initially, as the spokeswoman said. The flag was already measured two weeks ago in Dortmund’s Westfalenhalle with a view to the record attempt.
The Cypres Demo Team in Soest had already achieved a world record in 2017 with a flag of 2698 square meters at the time, but this was clearly surpassed in the following year by a jump team in Dubai with a flag of 4886 square meters. The Cypres Demo Team had been preparing for the jump for several months. dpa
