Zarco, full of joy after his pole position: "It's a source of pride"

At a record pace, Johann Zarco signed his second pole of the year at the British track of Silverstone, the fourth with a Ducati since he reached the mark in 2020, and the eighth of his MotoGP career.

Zarco came to the fight for pole after signing some productive free practice, being the fastest in the fourth test session. “It’s a mythical circuit and being able to ride comfortably and quickly on it is a source of pride. So I’m happy,” the Frenchman introduced after finishing the qualifying day.

“I gained confidence in the fourth practice, and in the first lap I found that my time of 1’58″4 gave me a lot of control. Already this morning I was hoping to go below 1’58”, but unfortunately I fell. In the afternoon I had the confidence I needed to take the step forward in the standings”.

“There have been two crashes [since the beginning of the weekend] but after the good summer break, I have the energy to test things. You have to gain comfort on the bike but I also have to push to find the limits. Hopefully tomorrow let’s have a good rhythm”, expressed the motivated French driver.

Now, the transalpine thinks big, although he claims to be aware that you have to find “that little bit” to stay ahead even during the race.

“I’m very happy, because it’s great to show that after the break one is energized and ready to take advantage of this condition,” he added to the Sky Sports microphones.

“In terms of race pace, I think we can be competitive, although I would like a little more room to fight with the others and stay ahead. I hope to find that tomorrow.”

Zarco could fight for his first MotoGP victory if he manages to find that rhythm, especially with the situation involving the suspension of Fabio Quartararo and the recently injured Aleix Espargaró, who was involved in an unfortunate accident during the last practice session of the Grand Prix. Brittany.

Regarding his future, his stay at Pramac and on the Borgo Panigale bike already seems secure, although Zarco preferred not to comment on the matter.

“We are working on the contract, there are some details to work out and I think it will be good to shed some light in Austria,” concluded the Frenchman.
