Zarco reveals why Aprilia is so strong in MotoGP

After eleven races, the manufacturer from Noale leads the team classification in the premier class, and the options for the title remain intact for Aleix Espargar. Aprilia is the big surprise in the 2022 MotoGP season and the Spaniard has particularly impressed with his consistency this year.

In the last seven races, Aleix Espargaró has always finished in the top 5, and at the home test in Barcelona he could have been second instead of P5 had it not been for the mistake of finishing the race a lap earlier than stipulated .

The fact that the rider from Granollers is competitive on almost every track with his Aprilia RS-GP and is fighting for the podium comes as no surprise to his MotoGP teammate, Johann Zarco. “They are the best on average,” explains the Pramac Ducati rider.

“When it comes to driving, Aleix’s turn is probably better than the rest,” analyzes Zarco. “When you lean the bike, it turns very fast at the apex. And that makes the difference,” the Frenchman continued.

Aprilia has managed to be competitive over the years with a clear evolution in the RS-GP. Even after a restructuring in the team, he continues to be one of the pioneers in the technical field of the premier class. The best example of this is the rear wing that was fitted during the last round at Mugello.

However, the breakthrough also has its drawbacks: with Espargaró ‘s third place in Jerez it has become clear that, with Aprilia, the last manufacturer is also losing its advantage in terms of concessions. This is because, previously, the Italians enjoyed fewer restrictions compared to the competition, for example in terms of engine development and test sessions.
