Musashi Japanese Restaurant

Many locals call Musashi the most “authentic” in the world. From pickled squid to grilled eels (a local favorite), it’s as close to Japan as it is to Queen City. The calamari here are probably the best in town. Excellent special daily lunches are also offered. Take note, they are open six days a week (closed Tuesdays).

Nikko Sushi Bar & Japanese

A cool, modern vibe, this is another place where the atmosphere almost seems to outshine the food. However, that does not mean that the food is not good. As with the other places on this list, the sushi is well prepared. There are many great options, but this is another place to be seen. The music is loud though, and the restaurant takes on an almost exclusive club vibe (priced to match) most nights. If that’s what you are looking for, Nikko is definitely your place.

KO Sushi

KO is a popular lunchtime option for many downtown workers due to its reasonable prices (daily specials make it even better) and its ‘to go’ personality. Limited seating is available, but takeout is where they thrive. Sushi is always fresh and tasty. There is a $ 1 delivery charge and a $ 15 minimum, and delivery has always been efficient, making it a great option for downtown workers or those visiting hotels.
