1. Turn off the air conditioning and open the windows
Office environments are well known for causing allergies and the air – addiction – of the environment, also slows our intellectual capacity. Thus, a recent study by Harvard University (USA) stated that offices with good natural ventilation and low levels of air pollutants were linked to better performance levels.
2. Work at a standing counter
This option is probably the least affordable for most. If we can change our desk for a standing counter, it will help us to move more throughout the day and, logically, to sit less. While being on your feet all day is not advisable either, we can use a desktop configuration that will allow us to adjust the workspace as it suits us.
3. Always have a glass of water on your desk
Drinking water during working hours not only improves our skin, but also prevents us from headaches during the hot and dry times of the year and also suppresses our appetite. It goes without saying that water is essential to maintain the proper functioning of the liver and kidneys, as it removes toxins from our body.
4. Place the desk near the window
If you have the possibility, place your desk near a window, since various studies carried out at Northwestern University (USA) show that people who have windows in their office are more physically active and sleep better, in comparison with those who do not have them in their workplace. By getting as much natural light as possible by sitting near a window, it will help us keep stress levels low, as well as the circadian rhythm of work in the right conditions. Working with natural light fills us with energy and motivation for the whole day.
5. Use aromatherapy
Placing candles with natural scents or even an essential oil diffuser will provide us with a subtle aroma that will improve our mood and improve our memory. Above all, citrus scents are recommended.
6. Snack healthy between meals
The vending machine can be a tempting option in the afternoon. However, it is best if we skip this high-calorie temptation and take fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts or yogurt to work, for those times when we need to snack between meals.
7. Go for a walk during the break
Getting used to going out for a walk, either during work breaks or just after leaving work, will lead us to form a healthy lifestyle habit that we can even spread to the entire office. A simple 5-10 minute walk three times a day will keep our body movement and metabolism going.
8. Put one or more plants
Many studies have shown that placing plants in the office increases productivity by 38%, creativity by 45%, and general well-being by 47%. Plants will also help clean the air in the office and reduce static noise. They should be plants that require little light like the peace lily or the aloe plant.
