There are people who have so much love for their pets that they want to be buried with them after they die. However, they can run into legal hurdles. In Spain, unless the owner of the dog or cat on duty owns such extensive property that it allows him to request and obtain a license to build a funerary pantheon that complies with all the mortuary health police regulations , it cannot be buried anywhere or anywhere. any shape to an animal, pet or not.
There are sanitary police regulations that regulate the treatment of organic remains so that they do not become a source of risk to public health or contamination of water or land. If our pet dies, we must notify the City Council or a veterinary center, which will take care of its remains, after paying a fee.
The owner of a pet can, however, pay for a funeral and organize a burial in an animal cemetery or have it cremated by a specialized service and keep its ashes in an urn . If the affection for the animal reaches this extreme, we can always record in our will, in a written document or in a last will confessed to someone we trust that our desire is that, when buried or cremated after death, together the ashes of our faithful friend are placed in our coffin or urn, in the niche or in the pantheon.
So did Granny Smith in the photo, who asked to share her eternal home with the ashes of her faithful dog Fluffy, who died five years before her. This happened in the state of New York, where in 2013 owners and pets were authorized to be buried in each other’s company.
