The jaguar, yaguar or yaguareté ( Panthera onca ) is a large feline that lives in North, Central and South America. It stands out for its yellow or orange fur as well as for its dark spots . In addition, their spots do not resemble those of any other feline, since they are rose-shaped and are called rosettes.
Jaguars are the largest cats in America and the third largest in the world after the tiger and the lion. These mammals measure around two meters and can weigh up to 113 kilograms. The females, on the other hand, weigh between 45 and 90 kilograms.
Jaguars usually live in forests and rainforests, although it is also possible to find them in desert areas such as Arizona. These cats always stay near the water since they are fishermen. In addition, they submerge their tails in the water to attract fish, as if it were a fishing line.
On the other hand, jaguars are solitary animals, since they only interact with others of their species when they have to take care of their cubs or mate. Also, to keep other jaguars at bay, they often mark their territory with urine and point to trees with their claws.
