The fox (Vulpini) is a quadruped mammal that belongs to the canine family. It is often confused with other animals such as wolves, jackals and dogs. In addition, they stand out for having an elongated snout, pointed ears and dense fur all over the body.
They are social animals that live in small family groups (three or four adults and several puppies). They are nocturnal animals, so they carry out most of their basic activities at night. Also, foxes can be found in all parts of the world, from North America to Europe, Asia or North Africa.
These mammals are the same size as a medium-sized dog and weigh between two and fourteen kilograms. The smallest fox is the fennec, as it measures 23 centimeters and weighs about one and a half kilograms.
These mammals usually inhabit forests, although it is also possible to find them in mountains, deserts and grasslands. They make their burrows by digging in the ground and use them to sleep, store food and take care of their cubs in a safe place. In addition, they usually have tunnels and several exits to be able to flee in case a predator enters the lair.
