Ford Kuga 2020: Is it an evolution or revolution?

The first Ford Kuga was presented in 2008, in full expansion of the generalist SUV phenomenon. Despite its blunt dimensions and high ground clearance, its off-road qualities were rare. In 2013 the second generation of this SUV appeared, with certain dynamic improvements and superior equipment. That batch shared a weak point with the rest of the Ford range: its interior. The center block of the dashboard was crude, unrefined and with a multifunction system behind the competition, when it comes to visual quality. In 2017 they renewed this model with slight exterior aesthetic modifications and the appearance of the SYNC3 infotaintment system on their screens. This software was faster, more connected and more intuitive than the previous one but it was still implanted in a small and unsophisticated screen. In 2020 it was the turn of the third generation of the Ford Kuga, a completely renewed model both outside and inside.

It continues to be part of the mid-size SUV segment, where it competes with models such as the Citroën C5 Aircross, the Nissan X-Trail or the Skoda Kamiq . Its dimensions are essential to be able to show at a glance a substantial change in this generation. It is 8.9 centimeters longer, up to 4.62 meters, and 4.4 centimeters wider , up to 1.88 meters. It is also lower (1.66 meters), so its silhouette is close to compact style. This growth translates into a wheelbase of 2.71 meters, just two centimeters more, which will be noticeable in a larger boot. The 2020 Ford Kuga offers 475 liters of trunk capacity , expandable by moving the rear bench forward. Hybrid variants see their space reduced to 411 liters of capacity.

The aesthetic evolution, very significant and better, comes accompanied by a greater range of motor options. The buyer of the Kuga 2020 will be able to choose between the gasoline, diesel, light hybrid or plug-in hybrid model , with prices starting from 25,760 euros . In this gallery we can see how this SUV has changed, leaving behind robustness to bet on a more dynamic, elegant and technological general line.
