Mazda M Hybrid: a hybrid system that fits with a fluid design

Visiting Japan is an exciting challenge for the cultural concept of any European. The busy streets and illuminated by LED lights of all colors, contrast with the intimate respect that society has for its tradition . Their past is a treasure that allows them to devise a future of androids and machines, with which they coexist naturally by endowing them with their own spirit. Time blurs among its people, as it does in its industry as well, and Mazda exposes that wonderful way of understanding life in its vehicles. It does so under the jinba ittai philosophy that backs up its bone marrow and by which a driver and his car must be linked like a horse with its rider . A sensory connection that goes one step further with the introduction of Mazda M Hybrid technology, which is present in its Mazda 2, Mazda 3 and Mazda CX-30 models.

Both the Mazda CX-30 SUV and the compact Mazda3 have reached the final of the 2020 World Car of the Year (WCOTY) award . This is a historic milestone given that, until now, no brand had placed two of its models among the three finalists. Both models can be purchased with the innovative Skyactiv-X engine, a gasoline block that acts (at times) like a diesel block. The appearance of light hybridization technology is one more reason for its candidacy, along with the beauty of its design and the new architecture focused on favoring that union with the car. This award will be delivered on April 8, coinciding with the New York International Hall, if the coronavirus allows it.

The key to Mazda’s hybrid models is their unbreakable DNA, a chromosomal chain that intertwines two concepts that we have already discussed: Kodo design and Jinba Ittai philosophy . The first of them is reflected in its exterior aesthetics that is extracted from first clay sketches, a technique already discarded by many manufacturers. The takumi are the artisans in charge of shaping the ideas of digital designers by hand , transferring the simplicity and fluidity that Kodo design represents. The jinba ittai is noticeable in its cabin, laid out and designed in such a way that sitting behind the wheel generates calm and a feeling of control. Two aspects that coexist perfectly with its light hybrid propulsion, respectful of nature and with the passion for driving.
