Malmo’s most popular attraction is Stortoget, the central Malmo square surrounded by the old town (Gamla Staden). In the square you will see the statue of King Charles X. Stortorget was built in 1536 and soon became the largest square in Scandinavia (until recently, that is). The bronze water sculpture in Malmo’s Stortorget represents the location of the old city well.

If you fancy a real revival, St. Peter’s Church is the Malmo attraction for you. This church is the oldest building in the city (built in the 14th century) and can be found behind the Stortorget (see above) in Malmo, Sweden. After seeing the details inside the church, be sure to visit the Merchants Chapel to see historical paintings. A great Malmo attraction for anyone interested in the Renaissance.

Also a well-known attraction in Malmo, Sweden, is the Malmo City Hall, built in 1546. Unfortunately, this building underwent major changes in the 19th century. If you’re hungry, head downstairs and visit the unique but good restaurant Rådhuskällaren in the basement. The residence is located right next to the town hall. FW Scholander is the architect who put all the stucco on this building. It is worth checking out.

Lilla Torg is a fun attraction in Malmo, I think. Lilla Torg is home to the center of Malmo’s nightlife and restaurants and you won’t be bored here. Many locals also like to come here. Lilla Torg is a square surrounded by buildings built between 1600 and 1800, which today offer handicrafts, lots of food, mall-style shops, and other entertainment. Good hotels in Malmo are nearby.

This Malmo attraction is so adorable you won’t be able to forget it. Gamla Vaster is located west of Lilla Torg Square (any local can point this out). In this part of Malmo, the attraction is Malmo itself: take a walk and see the very low houses (!) And the brick buildings in all the colors of the rainbow. In addition to private residences, these Swedish buildings also house cafes and shops. Definitely the most colorful attraction in Malmo!

Is your favorite attraction an amusement park? Then head to Malmo’s Folkets Park which is the amusement park attraction in this city. Folkets Park looks similar to Tivoli Park in Copenhagen and offers family walks and a park atmosphere from April to September. This amusement park includes quite a few animals, play areas, attractions, and even a flea market.
Free attractions with the Malmo card
Many of Malmo’s attractions and museums are free with this card, or discounted by up to 50%, along with reimbursements for car rentals and other activities. The Malmo Card also offers visitors free transportation and free parking in Malmo. A nice perk of this discount card is a discounted bridge toll to travel to Copenhagen when you cross the Oresund Bridge.
