One of the most dynamic and popular pride celebrations in Europe, London Gay Pride officially takes place at the end of June – this year’s dates are June 18 to June 26, 2016. It is one of the busiest events in the world, which attracts more than 750,000 participants. Three years ago it was an especially big gathering, because London Pride coincided with WorldPride (which will take place together with Madrid Gay Pride in 2017) and EuroPride (which is in Amsterdam this year, and in Madrid as part of WorldPride in 2017).
The big day in London is Saturday June 25, with the big crowd for the London Pride Parade, which takes place from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., starts on Baker Street in Portman Square and heads southeast through from Oxford Circus, Soho, Piccadilly Circus, Charing Cross and even Whitehall. Then throughout the afternoon until late at night, the London Pride Festival in Trafalgar Square features a host of renowned artists.
There are all kinds of Pride-related events that take place during London Pride Week, including the Pride Arts Festival, film and theater performances, concerts, parties, workshops, singing parties, an LGBTQ tour of the Museum. Victoria & Albert, a Pride in the Park event alongside UK Black Pride and much more.
