Be sure to hear your voice in local and national elections in Oklahoma. Registering to vote is not very difficult and costs nothing, but it does take processing time. So don’t wait until the last minute. Register as soon as possible. That is how.
-
Gather your information:
Well, even saying “gather” is a bit of a stretch since you probably know everything. However, the registration request will request:
-
- Name and direction
-
- Date of birth
- Political affiliation
- Driver’s license number
- Last four digits of social security number (if no driver’s license)
-
Get an application:
Registration applications are available from your County Board of Elections (4201 N. Lincoln Blvd. in OKC), any Oklahoma Label Agency, Post Offices, Libraries, and online in Adobe PDF format.
-
Complete application
It’s pretty easy and includes the information in step 1. Just be sure to sign it when you’re done. This swears that you are eligible to vote (see Tips below for requirements).
-
Changing your registration ?:
Did you change your name or move and need to change your registration? If so, you must follow these same steps. However, you can not change your political affiliation “from April 1 to August 31, inclusive, in any even-numbered year.”
-
Submit your request:
The mailing address is on the registration card, so you can simply mail it in. You can also drop it off at your county board of elections or the State Board of Elections (2300 N. Lincoln Blvd., Room B6). If you fill it out at any Oklahoma Label Agency, it will be mailed to you.
-
How to get your voter ID card:
After your application has been approved, you will receive your voter identification card in the mail. Please review it and report any errors immediately. The card will have been printed at the place where you will vote in your constituency. Keep it safe and take it with you when you vote. You will receive a letter in the mail if, for any reason, your request cannot be approved.
-
Vote:
That’s. You are ready to vote. The Oklahoma State Board of Elections has a calendar for the upcoming elections. Also, don’t be afraid to get involved in a political campaign.
Advice:
- To be eligible to vote in Oklahoma, it must be all of the following:
- At least 18 years of age
- US Citizen
- A resident of Oklahoma
- However, the following cannot vote in Oklahoma:
- An offender sentenced until a period of time equal to the original sentence or sentence has expired
- A person deemed incapacitated
- A person judged partially incapacitated and prohibited from voting
- Remember that Oklahoma has a closed primary system. Registered voters can only vote in the primary of the party in which they are registered. All registered voters can vote for judges and legislative questions in a primary election.
- Although you can register at any time, ID cards will not be issued for 24 days prior to an election. So think ahead.
