First hours with Outriders: low expectations have collided with a devilish challenge that I am looking forward to continuing

Arguably, Outriders and I are off on the right foot. Its presentation over a year ago allowed me to get closer to a game that drank so much of the Destiny formula that it seemed to have no identity of its own . Entertaining, yes, but far from memorable.

That that happened coming from the People Can Fly team , jewel makers like Bulletstorm or GoW Judgment, turned out to be a huge blow and a profound disappointment. Now, after a generous delay and with the final version already in my hands, I must admit that it has caught me completely off guard.

From disenchantment to hitch

My disappointment was such that I did not even look at the demo, knowing that I would play it all for all with its arrival on Xbox Game Pass. However, it was not there, but on PS5 , where I have finally approached the definitive Outriders experience.

After a start that has been particularly uphill for me, because of having already overcome it previously and because history is far from being my devotion, the potential of Outriders has begun to emerge from the hand of a fun difficulty that puts the challenge by flag.

It’s been a long time since a shooter put me against the ropes and here, I don’t know if because the reflections no longer accompany or because I didn’t hit the chosen class, I’ve had a great time testing the devilish aggressiveness of some enemies who don’t they have no intention of giving up.

Far from leading to frustration, the game has been magnificent during the passage through the first three scenarios offered by the adventure. A small part of a total that, between main and secondary missions, well promises to enjoy a good handful of hours.

Evocando a Lost Planet

Having played it alone , there is still much to prove to be able to pass judgment. I just hope that the variety that he has shown so far continues for the remainder of the season and that, based on surprises, it continues to remain fresh match after match.

It does seem to make its shortcomings clear from the start with a formula that is far from offering a perfect gunplay. At times its sensations evoke more of a Lost Planet than a Gears of War, with a control that is somewhat more crude and difficult to master than you could ask those who have worked on a Gears.

The good news is that, without being completely dazzled, I ended up getting the hang of it and learned to enjoy that cocktail of powers and shots that it boasts.

When you understand to what extent it is key to seek synergy between one another, Outriders begins to offer that feeling of superiority that anyone capable of exploding their enemies in a fireball should be able to feel.

With a better job in the feedback that the skills transfer – authentic protagonists of the mix – than in that of some shots that do not finish convincing, Outriders aims to stay away from a high position from which to pay homage.

Of course, if it maintains this magnificent rhythm from here to the end, it may well be one of those games that pays tribute to that of ” not everything has to be a masterpiece of the genre to be recommended .” Without a doubt a very pleasant surprise .
