One of the key franchises of Sony’s consoles will make the leap to the small screen after the Hollywood Reporter revealed that The Last of Us, the sensational saga of Naughty Dog that this year will return with a second part, will feature its own television series that will air on HBO .
Behind this bombshell that has taken us completely by surprise will be Craig Mazin , the creator of the acclaimed Chernobyl series, who in turn will be accompanied by Neil Druckmann , the scriptwriter and creative director of the video game itself. Both will work side by side on the script and the production of this adaptation that will take place in the future.
The series will be produced by Sony Pictures Television in association with PlayStation Productions . In fact, it will be the first television series by this last production company and the plot will deal with exactly the same events that took place in the original video game , with the possibility of getting to see something more based on the future The Last of Us: Part II.
Craig Mazin has stated the following regarding this possibility of working together with Neil Druckmann:
Neil Druckmann is without a doubt the best screenwriter who works in video games and The Last of Us is his masterpiece. Having the opportunity to adapt this impressive work has been a dream for me for years and I am proud to do so in association with Neil.
Neil himself also wanted to dedicate a few words to his partner regarding this ad piece:
From the first time I sat down with Craig I was amazed by his narrative approach and his love and deep understanding of The Last of Us. With Chernobyl, Craig and HBO created a tense, heartbreaking and exciting masterpiece. I couldn’t think of a better partner to bring the story of The Last of Us to life in a television series.

And if the announcement has already seemed excellent to you, then listen to the words of Chris Parnell, co-president of Sony Pictures Television, who has affirmed that this will be only the first of the series that will give life together with his colleagues from PlayStation Productions . Does that mean we’ll get to see more adaptations of other great PlayStation sagas?
In any case, first things first and this adaptation of The Last of Us will have to be followed closely to discover who will be the actor who will be chosen to play Joel , the actress who will take on the role of Ellie and, of course, knowing when we can see the chapters! The expectation is more than served.
