Again, as someone who does not want the thing, we have planted ourselves in the middle of the month and that means, among other things, that the video game sales data in our country have already been published.
In the general ranking, as we will see in more detail below, things remain the same in the first three positions. It is in the middle / lower area of the table where four titles have fallen, which have been replaced, logically, by another four new ones. And one of them has entered with special force and a clean shot.
By platforms there have also been a few interesting changes. Let’s see what August has given in terms of sales:
General ranking August 2009
1. WIISPORTSRESORT + WIIMOTIONPLUS (WII)
2. LOSSIMS 3 (WINDOWS)
3. WIIFIT + BALANCEBOARD (WII)
4. WIIPLAY (WII)
5. KILLZONE 2 (PS3)
6. MARIOKART + WIIWHEEL (WII)
7. UP (NINTENDO DS)
8. FALLOUT 3 (PS3)
9. EL PROFESORLAYTON Y LA VILLAMISTERIOSA (DS)
10. WWE SMACKDOWN! VS. RAW 2009 (PS3)
One more month we can see how Nintendo platforms continue to dominate the general table occupying six of the top ten positions (one less compared to July). The first three remain as is: ‘Wii Sports Resort’ in the lead, delighting the whole family, ‘The Sims 3’ who do not want to leave there even with hot water and Nintendo’s proposal to keep fit with their ‘Wii Fit’ .
‘Wii Play’ rises one place compared to the previous month, occupying a more than worthy fourth place in the table, followed by a new entry with the aroma of gunshots and churruscados Hellghast: ‘Killzone 2’ . The Guerrilla Games title enters fifth place without knocking on the door, even kicking it. Taking into account that it is one of the best FPS that we can find for PS3 and its Platinum condition, with a price of 29.99 euros, we should not be too surprised.
“Mario Kart” for Wii drops two spots and DS’s “Professor Layton and the Mysterious Village” (what a great game, by the way) drops three. They disappear from the general table ‘Pokemon Platinum’ (DS), ‘Active Personal Trainer’ (Wii), ‘ PES 2009 Platinum’ (PS2) and ‘Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood’ (PS3).
The new entries, in addition to ‘Killzone 2’ as we have seen, are ‘Up’ (DS) which is placed directly in the seventh position, ‘Fallout 3’ (PS3) which does it in eighth and ‘ WWE Smackdown! VS. Raw 2009 ‘ (PS3) which ranks last.

A couple of notes: ‘Up’ , the adaptation of the animated film by Pixar, has entered the list of sales of Wii, PS2, PSP and Nintendo DS. In the case of the Nintendo laptop, in addition, directly to the first place. It seems that the success of the film has been transferred to its playable version.
On the other hand ‘Batman: Arkham Asylum’ , one of the most important novelties of last month, has crept into the third position of the XBox 360 list, only surpassed by ‘ GTA IV’ and ‘Fallout 3’ , and in the fifth position on the PS3 list.
