Release Guide: February 2012

We started the year quite relaxed due to a very weak January, but the February releases will begin to heat up the atmosphere. In fact, this month will be saved for the memory for having been chosen for the launch of PS Vita in the West, accompanied in turn by an exemplary premiere catalog.

But do not think that all the appeal of this month is going to be reduced to the landing of the new Sony laptop, because the rest of the platforms are also going to receive interesting movements in their catalogs. We are going to enter fully into the review of what these 29 days ahead of us will give us.

Laptops: Time for PS Vita

Two months after its premiere in Japan, PS Vita will arrive in Europe on February 22 . Sony’s second assault on the portable market will have two versions to choose from, Wi-Fi and 3G, with a difference of 50 euros between them, and a launch catalog where ‘Uncharted: The Golden Abyss’, ‘WipEout 2048’ and ‘Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 ‘ .

El potente desembarco se completa con ‘Ridge Racer’, ‘Rayman Origins’, ‘Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus’, ‘FIFA 12’, ‘Virtua Tennis 4’, ‘Touch My Katamari’, ‘Shinobido 2: Revenge Of Zen’, ‘ModNation Racers: Road Trip’, ‘Dynasty Warriors Next’, ‘Formula 1 2011’, ‘Reality Fighters’, ‘Little Deviants’, ‘EveryBody’s Golf’, ‘Army Corps of Hell’, ‘Asphalt Injection’, ‘Dungeon Hunter’, ‘Lumines’ y ‘Michael Jackson The Experience’. Vamos, que habrá donde elegir con Vita.

But be clear that the competition is not going to sit idly by, and during this month on Nintendo 3DS we will see the arrivals of ‘Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games’,’ Pac-Man Party 3D ‘ and ‘ One Piece: Unlimited Cruise ‘ on the 10th, and ‘ Tekken 3D Prime Edition ‘ on the 17th.

Xbox 360: Endless Fantasies

We make the leap to the living room with Microsoft, whose most popular welcome this month will be that of ‘Final Fantasy XIII -2′ . The direct sequel to the latest installment of the famous role-playing saga will go on sale this Friday, to tell us what happened to Lightning and company after finishing their recent adventure.

Also in two days we will welcome ‘Metal Gear Solid HD Collection’ , one of the multiple packages that Konami prepares to take advantage of the nostalgic pull of its main series. In this case, it will allow us to enjoy the second and third installments of the saga in high definition, as well as the portable title ‘Peace Walker’.

Without moving from this Friday, it is also time to announce ‘Soul Calibur V’ , the famous series of fights with weapons by Namco. From my point of view, the quality of it has been declining since the second chapter, and the truth is that I have not seen anything in this new installment that indicates a change in that dynamic. Will it succeed in making those of us who think so change their minds?

One that I am very happy to comment on is ‘Catherine’ , a game that to our surprise has ended up reaching the western market. This atypical title that mixes different genres and uses eroticism as an obvious advertising claim will be on sale next February 10 .

The month is quite complete in general lines, and to the aforementioned titles we have to add ‘Rhythm Party’ today, ‘NeverDead’ this Friday, ‘Gotham City Impostors’ on the 8th, ‘Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning’ on the 9th, ‘The Darkness II’ and ‘Grand Slam Tennis 2’ on the 10th, ‘Binary Domain’ and ‘ UFC Undisputed 3′ on the 17th, ‘Syndicate’ on the 22nd, and ‘Asura’s Wrath’ and ‘Zumba Fitness Rush’ on the 23rd.

PlayStation 3: I want to destroy trucks to be happy

On Sony’s desktop console it is imperative to open the agenda with ‘Twisted Metal’ , a reboot of a mythical saga in the PlayStation universe, although not as popular in Europe as in the United States. Developed by Eat Sleep Play with David Jaffe at the forefront of the design, it aims to return all the hooligan spirit of the series, but taking advantage of the possibilities offered by a console like PlayStation 3 to take the explosion to a new level. A la vental on the 17th .

More collections reissued here too, in this case ideal for platform lovers with ‘The Jak & Daxter Trilogy Collection’ . The first three titles in the saga, originally released on PlayStation 2, fully adapted to current times and with the corresponding additional material. All available on the 29th .

To this naturally we must add the multiplatforms discussed in the Xbox 360 category: ‘Final Fantasy XIII -2′ , ‘Metal Gear Solid HD Collection’ , ‘Soul Calibur V’ and ‘NeverDead’ this Friday, ‘Gotham City Impostors’ on day 7, ‘Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning’ on day 9, ‘Catherine’ , ‘The Darkness II’ and ‘Grand Slam Tennis 2’ on day 10, ‘Binary Domain’ and ‘ UFC Undisputed 3′ on day 17, ‘Syndicate ‘ on the 22nd and ‘ Asura’s Wrath ‘ on the 23rd.

Wii: to old age, role

The last months of Wii’s life are having as a particular incentive the arrival of powerful role-playing titles, of which the most anticipated has possibly been ‘The Last Story’ . Nintendo has done a lot to beg with the edition of this game outside of Japan, but fortunately they made the right decision and we will be able to enjoy it in our homes on February 24th .

Unfortunately there is little else to add in this category, except ‘Zumba Fitness 2’ which will arrive a day before to try to convince lovers of rhythm and sports. Between both releases, I am quite clear with which one I prefer.

PC: finally Alan Wake

The PC version of ‘Alan Wake’ has brought a tail, but once the problems in its development have been overcome, it will be Remedy itself who will be in charge of its publication through Steam. We do not have an exact release date yet, but we know that it will be available in the Valve digital store during this month, so those interested.

To this title you can add the aforementioned ‘Gotham City Impostors’ on the 7th, ‘Kingdoms Of Amalur: Reckoning’ on the 9th, ‘The Darkness II’ on the 10th and ‘Syndicate’ on the 22nd. Here you have the usual calendar that is so practical to organize our purchases.
