The year 2012 promises to be quite busy in the field of video games, but unfortunately its inaugural month will not be a good demonstration of it. The companies have thought that it is not worth trying too much in this month of sales, when the famous slope makes so many pockets tremble, and has decided to leave its big bets for later.
There’s so little to scratch in this January release guide that I’ve seriously considered leaving the section blank. But video game fans have to be tough and mature, so we are going to put on our fatigues to comment on a month that will open with the arrival of the reissue ‘Kid Icarus 3D Classics’ , a gift for the players who register two 3DS titles on the Nintendo website.
We are still on the Nintendo laptop because this month ‘Resident Evil: Revelations’ also goes on sale, a title that is considered by Capcom as a delivery with all the laws of the main saga. After the progressive turn to the action, this game, which goes on sale on the 27th, promises to be a return to the roots of survival horror. Jill and Chris will be the protagonists of this adventure located between the events of the fourth and fifth chapters.
We are not abandoning the 3DS yet, because Sega will launch on this machine ‘Crush3d’ , the mix of platforms and puzzles developed by Zoe Mode. This is a three-dimensional review of the title originally released on PSP five years ago, with new features that will make it even more interesting. It goes on sale on the 13th.
We are now moving to the big screens to announce the arrival of ‘Gotham City Impostors’ to PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. This shooter, which will be distributed through digital sales channels, presents the universe of Gotham from a light-hearted and with online gambling as the main objective. Available next Tuesday the 10th.
Although it does not yet have a specific release date, this month ‘Bioshock 2’ will finally arrive on Mac . Two years have passed since our last visit to the depths of Rapture, but Apple device users who haven’t had a chance to try it will still appreciate this physical and digital release via the App Store.
So that the action in ‘Gears of War 3’ does not end, on the 17th the Fenix Rising pack goes on sale, third already for the Epic Games shooter. This downloadable content will include five new multiplayer maps, four new character skins, and the option to beat level 100 multiple times for rewards. Its price will be 800 Microsoft Points.
This lazy month is completed with ‘Winter Sports 2012’ for Wii and 3DS on the 13th, and with ‘Crash Time 4 3D’ for 3DS on the 18th. It is little, I know, but remember that less gives a stone. As usual, everything that is pending to reach the stores can be found in the following digital calendar.
