Allegria Hotel & Spa in Long Beach NY

Allegria Hotel & Spa is located on one of the lesser-known barrier islands off Long Island’s south shore. Located directly on the city’s two-mile boardwalk, it would be hard to imagine the Allegria Hotel being closer to the ocean. Its sleek modern facade contrasts with the older brick buildings that flank it, but its beachy colors – light blue, gray, and white – keep it understated. Many of the 143 rooms face the Atlantic Ocean and the active boardwalk that runs parallel to it.

Dinner at Allegria Hotel & Spa:

Allegria Hotel has a continental American restaurant and lounge called Atlantica on the Ocean. They have brought in a Hamptons chef with significant experience in New York City restaurants. Expect a unique and elegant dining experience, with an eye to organic and local food and abundant seafood selections. For dinner, maybe start with giant shrimp poached in prosecco with cocktail sauce. Grilled swordfish and diver scallops are main dishes that keep the nautical theme going.

Activities at Allegria Hotel & Spa:

In fine weather, relax and socialize on the hotel’s rooftop terrace and outdoor lounge, where cocktails and light snacks are offered. It is located by the heated saltwater pool surrounded by sun loungers and private cabanas and is open from May to September. Hotel guests have access to the rooftop indoor gym.

Depending on the season, the hotel will install an outdoor mini golf course and there is also a flying trapeze to try. The hotel can offer a variety of beach-related activities, such as fishing and surfing adventures. Skudin Surf School can provide a private surf lesson. Experienced surfers will be in good company in Long Beach and can stock up on supplies at local surf shops.

If you want to rent a bike or bring your inline skates, the wheel-only lane in the center of the boardwalk provides a clear path. The Allegria Hotel’s rooftop pool has a spectacular view of the Atlantic Ocean and the ships that regularly await entry to the Brooklyn Ship Terminal.

In winter, access the Allegria Winter Recreation and Ice Skating Center.

Search de Allegria Hotel & Spa:

Long Beach is a small, unpretentious place with approximately 40,000 year-round permanent residents. Not as trendy as the Hamptons or as festive as Fire Island’s summer communities, Long Beach’s proximity to the ocean and the city makes Allegria Hotel & Spa a quick and easy destination for city dwellers. Within minutes of the hotel (the island is only three square miles, so nothing is too far) are dining and drinking establishments for rowdy crowds, as well as options for more refined experiences. However, the beach is the real draw, with well-maintained dunes and jetties and about three miles of soft white sand.

How to get to Allegria Hotel & Spa:

The Allegria Hotel & Spa can be reached by car from Manhattan. Or take a Long Island Rail Road train from Penn Station to Long Beach Station. The journey takes less than an hour (check the train schedule). The hotel is a short taxi ride or walk from the station.
