If you are a veteran or current active duty military member and reside in Nassau County, Long Island, New York, then you are eligible for a discounted leisure pass that can be used at recreational facilities throughout the county. The Lifetime Leisure Pass grants the holder discounts when using Nassau’s public facilities, including tennis courts, beaches, golf courses, swimming pools, skating rinks, marinas and cabins that are owned and operated by the Nassau Nassau County, Recreation and Parks Department. If you are a veteran who served in active military, naval, or air service and was discharged or released for reasons other than dishonorable, then you, along with your spouse and children, can now enjoy free access to the pools. County and other benefits that come with a County Leisure Pass, as long as you provide your proof of valid military identification.
Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano commented, “After giving so much of themselves for our nation, this is the least Nassau County can do to show our gratitude. It is my hope that we will see many more veterans and military families enjoying our parks, golf courses and all that we have to offer recreationally in the months and years to come. “
When you first apply, you must submit a copy of your veteran’s discharge documents (DD214) and your proof of Nassau County residency. The Veteran Leisure Pass has a one-time cost and you only need to validate your residency every three years to renew your pass.
