Ballet under the stars

Some people have never seen ballet and are frankly afraid to try it. Well, I have a secret: ballet is not so scary. Usually when people are curious about ballet, I recommend that they check out one of the classics that are easy to understand, like The Nutcracker . Now, it gets even easier. If you’ve wanted to see ballet, or if you have a young person at home who owns a ballet tutu and shoes, Ballet Under the Stars , presented by Ballet Arizona, is the event for you.

This year’s Ballet Under the Stars features five performances around the Valley of the Sun. In this Ballet Arizona Education and Outreach program, the professional talents of Ballet Arizona dancers are combined with the youthful and creative ideas of school-age children. These classical and contemporary performances are suitable for all ages to enjoy a professional ballet performance in a unique, open-air setting complete with stage, lighting, costumes, and (hopefully) beautiful September night weather.

General admission to the Ballet Under the Stars is free. Low chairs and blankets for lawn chairs are available. Generally, alcoholic beverages are not allowed to be brought into area parks. I recommend that you leave your pets at home.

Performances by Ballet Under the Stars leading classical ballet and contemporary broader and diverse audiences. Each year, this series is performed for nearly thousands of children, adults, and families, many of whom experience Ballet Arizona for the first time.
