Five years ago, the Desert Botanical Garden organized a glass art installation by Dale Chihuly, titled The Nature of Glass . During those six months, the garden had an unprecedented attendance, every day, to the extent that it was really full almost every day during that event. Dale Chihuly and his team once again selected some existing pieces and created others that were strategically placed in the Garden, where art and nature combine to create unique beauty.
Dale Chihuly’s work can be found in more than 200 museum collections around the world. We have another rare opportunity to be dazzled by your imagination, creativity and precision in one of the most beautiful settings in the Southwestern desert.
When is the Chihuly glass art exhibit at the Desert Botanical Garden?
November 10, 2013 to May 18, 2014
Where the garden is?
Here is a map and directions to get to the Desert Botanical Garden.
What is different this time?
These are not the same pieces that were shown last time. If you loved Chihuly: The Nature of Glass in 2008/09, you’ll find more to love at Chihuly In the Garden in 2013/14.
Five years have passed since the last exhibition, and naturally there have been changes in the Garden at that time. Most notably,
- More parking spaces have been added.
- The last time the Garden hosted the Chihuly art, special transports were organized to bring people from the light rail stop at 44th Street and Washington at the Garden. Now, there is a bus that stops near the entrance to the garden. It’s bus # 56, and it basically travels along Priest Drive. There is a Park ‘n’ Ride on the southern part of the route, at Costco, at the corner of Priest Drive and Elliot Road. The bus makes stops at the Arizona Mills Mall, as well as the Phoenix Zoo. At the northern end of the route, the bus connects to the METRO Light Rail at the Washington / Priest Drive station. Check the bus schedule online. (Note: the bus only stops at the Desert Botanical Garden and the Phoenix Zoo during the day.) A ride on the bus costs $ 2.
- Now you can enjoy a leisurely gourmet farm and pasture meal at Gertrude’s, a full service restaurant near the garden entrance. Serving breakfast, lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch, reservations are recommended.
How do I get tickets and how much do they cost?
