Citroën C4 and ë-C4: gasoline, diesel and 100% electric

The appearance of the SUV segment could be similar to that of an invasive species. It came and left minivans without potential customers, families preferred the adventurous and modern aesthetics of SUVs. Only a few models have survived, such as the Seat Alhambra , the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer or the Volkswagen Sharan, among others. The sedans have also suffered their presence but brands and buyers continue to bet on their beauty and comfort. After Citroën’s offensive in the crossover segment, with the launch of the C3 Aircross and the C5 Aircross , it is their turn to recover one of their key pieces: the Citroën C4.

The new C4 will be presented in a few days but the firm has gone ahead to reveal the 100% electric variant, called Citroën ë-C4. Creativity does not seem to have taken over the thinking minds of names, 90% of electric models share the letter e as an identifying claim. In the French house we already have the ë-Jumpy, recently presented as the distribution option most in line with the clean cities of the present. The electrified range is completed by the C5 Aircross and its hybrid variant , the Ami and the ë-SpaceTourer.

As we said, the advent of SUVs has affected the entire automotive habitat. The new generation of Citroën C4 seems to contain certain aesthetic details characteristic of crossovers. In the images we see some lower plastic protectors and a fairly high waist line , aspects that it shares with SUVs. Their evolution, however, eclipses that resemblance. This 2020 generation brings us a daring, futuristic model with a coupe drop that feels phenomenal to its aggressive and forceful bodywork.

Two years have passed since the previous C4 was discontinued to make way for the last C4 Cactus. Like a phoenix rising from its ashes, the current Citroën ë-C4 and C-4 promise a comfortable, digital and efficient driving experience . It will arrive from the summer with gasoline, diesel engines and, of course, the electric version. We still do not have all the information, its official presentation will take place on June 30 , but it promises to recover the personality that raised a centennial firm thanks to sedans such as the Ami 6, GSA, ZX, BX or the Xsara.
