Although we first got to see it in motion a couple of days ago, Square Enix has been working on ‘Dragon Quest X’ for a long time; specifically six years. This has been revealed by Takehko Hoashi, a former member of the company who has been involved in many projects until his departure from it in 2010.
This means that the company has been preparing this title since 2005, and that if it fulfills its promise to launch it next 2012, it will have cost them seven years of work. Thus, the development would have coincided in parallel with that of ‘Dragon Quest IX’, although this title was commissioned at the time to Level-5.
In addition to for Wii, which we have known for a long time, ‘Dragon Quest X is also being developed for Wii U, and it will be a massive online role-playing game whose success in Japan is practically assured. Let’s hope that so many years of effort will translate into a title that is up to the task.
