Edmond Electric Parade of Lights

Coming soon:

Sponsored by Edmond Electric and The Downtown Edmond Business Association, the Oklahoma City suburb of Edmond hosts an annual parade of lights. Featuring a series of party-lit parade floats for individual groups, organizations and businesses, the event follows the Mayor’s Tree Lighting Ceremony and draws thousands of people downtown in early December. In addition, the area has wagon rides, ice skating, and more for the season.

Date and time of 2017:

UPDATE: The parade has been canceled. In the future, instead of a parade, there will be a light display at Mitch Park throughout the month of December.

The Mayor’s Tree lighting is at 6pm on December 2nd.

Location and directions:

The parade takes place in downtown Edmond, just north of 2nd Street and Broadway in Edmond. Metropolitan area residents can follow I-235 straight north and they will literally run into the event. There are parking areas available just east, north and south of Main, near Baumann. See below the parade route.

The Mayor’s Tree Lighting Ceremony takes place at Shannon Miller Park at the corner of Jackson and 1st.

Parade route:

The parade route follows a square grid. It begins at Campbell University and travels south to the first, west along the first to Broadway, north on Broadway to Campbell, and finally east back to the University.

Entrance to the parade:

Cash prizes of $ 100 (3rd place), $ 200 (2nd place) and $ 300 (1st place) are awarded to winning entries, based on “lights and theme of the season.” To participate, simply complete a registration form and mail or fax it to: The City of Edmond; PO Box 2970; Edmond, OK 73083. Insurance information is required, and parade tickets cannot endorse political parties, candidates, or issues.
