The Witcher, also known as the Geralt of Rivia Saga or the Witcher Saga , is a fantasy universe that achieved worldwide fame through the literary works of Andrzej Sapkowski , the exceptional CD Projekt RED trilogy, and more recently, the brutal deployment of Netflix when it comes to producing series and movies. So much, as to celebrate a WitcherCon.
CD Projekt and Netflix have teamed up to produce a digital convention that serves as a celebration of The Witcher’s legacy . The one we already know and the one that is currently in production and development. Two broadcasts dedicated to the fantasy universe in which Geralt plays leather. Really suggestive quotes for fans of fantasy and RPGs.
Precisely for this reason, in VidaExtra we have gathered everything announced, shown and offered so far at WitcherCon. From digital gifts to trailers for new Netflix productions, many of which, as you can see, come from the dates most anticipated by fans of el brujo.
Without further ado, below you will find what WitcherCon 2021 presented and shown related to the Witcher universe. Starting with a dedication by Sapkowski himself.
Andrzej Sapkowski formally welcomes Geralt fans

Andrzej Sapkowski may not be the biggest fan of video games. At least those of CD Projekt RED. But the imagination of the creator of the Geralt of Rivia Saga is the central pillar on which the ever-growing universe around The Witcher rests. And that he himself welcomes WitcherCon is a detail with his fans.
It gives me great joy to welcome all fans of The Witcher – those who are passionate about novels, television series and video games – to the WitcherCon virtual convention.
I’m sure we’ll have a particularly good time, and when these tough times are behind us, we’ll see each other at a new WitcherCon. This time, in person.
From this we can draw an interesting conclusion: that Sapkowski summons us to a future WitcherCon 2022 means that the plans to expand The Witcher by Netflix, CD Projekt or both go beyond what is planned for this year. And that is already good news.
CD Projekt RED gives away a generous batch of WitcherCon digital items

A celebration without gifts is not a true celebration, and CD Projekt RED knows this well. Precisely for this reason, and for a very limited time, he is offering all Witcher fans a generous batch of digital items that will delight Geralt of Rivia fans.
The items in question that we can claim and redeem for free are:
- The digital books The Witcher: Fox Children and The World of the Witcher: Video Game Compendium by Dark Horse Comics. two absolutely essential volumes.
- The Video Game Show – The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt concert, a concert recorded with music inspired by the game. A real joy.
- And last but not least, 4 GWENT cards for the CD Projekt RED digital card game: Dusk Wanderers, Yennefer from Vengerberg, Ciri and Vesemir: Mentor.
To claim these items, simply access the commemorative website (thewitcher.com/giveaway) and associate our GOG account. In the case of Dark Horse volumes, we will be given a redeemable code with which to request electronic books from browsers or the Dark Horse app. Of course, this promotion will end next Monday, July 12 . Don’t leave it to the last minute!
Netflix shows and dates the new season of the Witcher
From the beginning we counted on the second season of The Witcher , the Netflix series starring Henry Cavill, to be the highlight of the event. And the wait has been worth it: officially, it is confirmed that the premiere of the new batch of episodes will take place on December 17.
Cavill himself has shared his enthusiasm for the Sapkowski universe in a relaxed talk about video games, books and filming, although he has not gotten too wet about what we can find in it. For its part, Netflix has taken the opportunity to offer a new batch of images, including a look at some of the new additions.

Freya Allan will repeat as Ciri and Paul Bullion will make his entrance in this new season as Lambert.

For his part, Joey Batey promises to steal minutes of glory from Cavill again by playing the bard Dandelion Banyo. Will you surprise us with a new theme?

Sardinilla, Geralt’s mount, has also appeared among the promotional images.

On the other hand, and this is really interesting, the set of Kaer Morhen , the Ancient Sea Fortress, has been shown. A link used by sorcerers for their training and that, borrowing elements from games and novels, will look spectacular in the television adaptation of The Witcher.
When it comes to the character of Vesemir, played by Kim Bodnia , Cavill himself admits to working a lot with the Danish actor to try to create a bond that feels real and goes beyond the screen. And speaking of Vesemir: we already know when his own animated film will be released.
Vesemir-starring anime shown in first teaser
The Witcher: The Wolf’s Nightmare, Netflix’s new anime project based on the Witcher Saga, has been shown for the first time. And not only will we see a rejuvenated Vesemir swatting monsters in the prime of life, but we also have an official date: its premiere on the digital platform is scheduled for next August 23.
The bad new? We continue without great news about The Witcher: Blood Origin, the live-action prequel to The Witcher also produced by Netflix. Of course, ahead of the event, the signing of Michelle Yeoh as Scían, a descendant of a nomadic tribe of elves and a true virtuoso of the sword, was confirmed.
The Witcher Ronin, Geralt’s journey to feudal Japan that you did not expect
If Vesemir will soak up the Japanese aesthetic in the new Netflix animated production, the legendary Geralt of Rivia was not going to be less: the universe imagined by Andrzej Sapkowski exchanges the fantasy of the Western Middle Ages for exotic Japan in The Witcher Ronin , a comic in the one that the witcher will dedicate to hunting all kinds of Yokai with two katanas.
Despite having been formally presented during WitcherCon, the truth is that The Witcher Ronin is a project supported by CD Projekt RED itself and that it will be released through a Kickstarter campaign. Definitely, the change does not sit badly Geralt, so, perhaps, you should be making room on the shelf now.
The Witcher, de Netflix al videojuego de CD Projekt RED

The last of the great novelties of the WitcherCon has caught us by surprise: in addition to the promised next generation updates that The Witcher 3 will receive for copies of PS5 and Xbox Series X, CD Projekt RED is working on a series of content inspired by the Netflix series that will come completely free to the game.
At the moment it has not been specified what type of content or the date on which it will be available, but some aspects inspired by Netflix personals or some thematic missions will suit the game wonderfully. And we are not the only ones to think about it.
It is worth remembering that, along with these contents, the Polish studio is working on a new game based on the saga as well as an alternative to Pokémon Go inspired by the Sapkowski universe. Geralt is definitely sane for a while.
