Fernando Alonso: "I'm happy with how things are going"

Fernando Alonso finished the French Grand Prix in a creditable eighth position. The Asturian rider suffered in the first part of the race, but made a great comeback on hard tires to once again overtake Esteban Ocon and continue growing at Alpine: “I think I can be happy with how things are going ,” reflected Alonso at the conclusion of the race.

The second half of Fernando Alonso’s career was excellent. The idyll with the soft tires in qualifying was replaced in the race by the hard ones, completing a great comeback to finish eighth: “If there was a harder tire, better. The truth is that we are more comfortable with him. The beginning was complicated, but we started ninth and finished eighth, so more or less we have run the race we wanted, “said the Spaniard.

The afternoon started very well for Fernando Alonso, who starred in a great start and had a beautiful battle with Leclerc: «The start was good, I climbed some position. Sunday has been good, four points in the pocket and a phenomenal weekend . I think we are the second or third best team in starts and I think today was another very good one. In the first corners we were also aggressive, we could have finished ahead of Ricciardo without those problems we had in the first part of the race ».

Finally, Fernando Alonso reflected on his progress in recent weekends: “I think I can go happy with how things are, it has been a good day,” concluded the Asturian, eighth in the French Formula 1 Grand Prix .
