Formula 1: Alpine renews Esteban Ocon, Fernando Alonso's teammate, until 2024

The Alpine team has a long-term plan. The French team has announced the renewal of fellow Frenchman Esteban Ocon for the next three seasons. Thus, Ocon will remain at least in the team until 2024, together with the fact that Fernando Alonso has a contract until the end of 2022.

Ocon, just 24 years old, came to Renault last year after leaving the quarry of the Mercedes team. The French team has chosen to renew him before the German team can bid for him due to the uncertainty in the future of Hamilton and Bottas. Despite his young age, he has extensive experience in Formula 1, since he has a total of 73 races contested and 210 points on his scoreboard.

“I am delighted to continue with the team beyond this year and it is a fantastic feeling to secure my future with Alpine. We have progressed well together since I joined the team and my goal is to continue that journey in the future. We have great challenges ahead, especially with the new regulations in 2022. I am confident that we can achieve our goals by working hard together, ”said the Frenchman in the statement of his renewal.

Ocon, who is currently lagging behind Fernando Alonso in the Formula 1 World Championship standings, is the only big news that Alpine will be able to deliver before the French Grand Prix, where they host. The team expected to be able to present innovations, although according to the latest reports they were not going to be relevant to be able to aspire to the podium.
