Germantown, Maryland is a suburban community located in Montgomery County, near Washington, DC. It is the third most populous city in the state of Maryland. Germantown was a rural farming town until the 1970s. The area has seen tremendous growth and expansion over the past two decades and is an affordable place to live with a wide variety of housing, shops, restaurants, and recreational opportunities. According to the US Census (2010), Germantown has a population of 86,395. Median household income is $ 74,283.

Location
Located just 25 miles northwest of Washington, DC, along I-270. Nearby communities include Gaithersburg, Boyds, Montgomery Village, Darnestown, Clarksburg, and Damascus. Germantown is located in the extreme north of the county near the Frederick County line.
