Getting to Philadelphia by train, car, bus, or plane

When heading to Philadelphia, travelers have a wide range of options to get to The City of Brotherly Love. The city's central east coast location, about a three-hour drive from Washington, DC and a two-hour drive from New York City, makes it easily accessible by plane, car, and public transportation.

Car

Philadelphia connects to several major highways, including the PA Turnpike (I-276), I-76, I-476, I-95, US 1, and the New Jersey Turnpike. I-676 is the section of I-76 that runs through Center City and there are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Crazy hats go well with simple dresses.
  • With a wild outfit, choose a compatible hat.
  • Wear sexy heels if you want, but pack an alternative pair of shoes. Derby day is long!

Of course, all of these tips work for Kentucky Oaks, too. Just remember, the official color for Oaks Day is pink. The more pink the better.
