Mercado Libre gives the chime in job creation. At a press conference, he announced that he will create more than 14 thousand new quality jobs in Latin America, which means an increase in the number of direct collaborators of 46% by 2022.
Of these 14,000 new collaborators, 8,000 will expand the logistics network, 4,000 the technology network, and the remaining 2,000 will be focused on the company’s business areas.
The creation of new jobs
Due to this contracting plan, the company will expand its logistics network in the region and strengthen its Information Technology teams, which will provide solutions focused on the digital ecosystem that constitutes the company.
During the presentation Challenges and Lessons Learned from the New Ways of Working , led by Sebastián Fernández Silva, Chief People Officer of Mercado Libre, it was reported that the company plans to end the year with more than 44,000 employees at the regional level.
“We are aware of our increasingly relevant social role. This growth in direct employment will also generate a significant impact in terms of indirect employment, multiplying opportunities and jobs throughout the value chain and in the hundreds of thousands of SMEs that use our ecosystem”, added Fernández Silva.
Of the 14,000 new jobs generated, 5,200 correspond to Mexico, the country that will register the largest number of new positions for this year and, therefore, the one with the greatest growth in the company’s regional hiring plan.
“Followed by Brazil with 4,000, Argentina with 2,400, Colombia with 1,200, Chile with 1,000 and Uruguay with 200 jobs,” Fernandez explained.
It is key to highlight that Mercado Libre’s plans to develop employability in Mexico are part of the investment of 1,475 million dollars for the country in 2022.
A new way of working
Mercado Libre also announced that it is committed to a “new era of work,” focused on the well-being of employees. The goal is to promote new ways of performing according to roles, in a context of flexibility and inspiration so that each collaborator gives the maximum, performs their tasks with excellence and develops not only professionally, but also personally.
Fernández Silva explained that, depending on the nature of their respective role, people will be able to choose where to work, either from home or from any other place, which expands the company’s talent market.
Similarly, he stressed that the evolution of the Mercado Libre offices to the “campus” concept will enhance social connection, learning, innovation and effective team dynamics.
“Being part of Mercado Libre is experiencing the adrenaline rush of entrepreneurship, of overcoming yourself and feeling pride in the impact generated by the company’s activity in each of the countries in which it operates. It is working in an environment that privileges diversity, in which each one is the protagonist of their development”, Fernández concluded.
