Hyundai Prophecy: for a beautiful and electric future

The cancellation of the Geneva Motor Show deprived us of knowing the future vision of the brands. This annual meeting usually hosts the exhibition of a large number of prototypes and concept cars . Abstract ideas that mark the design language and the philosophy of models that, in some cases, end up being a reality. Walking through the corridors of the Palexpo convention center is like taking a trip to the future, getting ahead of ourselves and discovering what type of propulsion, aesthetics and segments will exist in a few years. Despite the fact that the doors of the Show were not opened to the public, the brands made a huge effort to show everything they had ready for the great automobile event. Hyundai did not miss the opportunity to present the Hyundai Prophecy , an ode to the beauty of mechanics and engines.

The future always generates a certain rejection, due to ignorance and habit. Electrification does not convince true petrolheads , passionate about cars, gasoline and exhaust sounds. We cannot deny that zero-emission propulsion entails the loss of many senses , necessary for the full enjoyment of a car. The view, however, will not be one of them. Even less if the idea of an electric vehicle, of the future, is as sensual and technological as the one shown by the Korean firm in the Hyundai Prophecy.

There is no going back, electric propulsion is the path marked by Europe and it seems the only option, despite not being it. Hyundai Motor Group wants to take advantage of this transition to position itself among the top three manufacturers of electric models. To achieve this, it will invest almost € 50 billion until 2025 , when it plans to sell more than 670,000 EV and fuel cell cars. Without going that far, the firm wants 75% of its range to be electrified by the end of 2020 , registering about 80,000 zero-emission models for European customers. The strategy is established, now it is time to see how the old continent market responds, a buyer somewhat reluctant to drastic changes and revolutions that affect their traditional lifestyle and mobility.

The cabin accommodates four passengers and its function is to offer them a moment of relaxation and peace. What’s more, the Prophecy has an air purification system, and the ambient light from inside will emphasize that feeling of tranquility. Many Asian countries consider elements and objects to have souls too, not just humans. This prototype commissions Hyundai’s Optimistic Futurism philosophy , which seeks to create an emotional bond between the person and the car, generating a perfect balance between emotion and practicality.
