SUV fashion prevails. These are vehicles with off-road capabilities, greater height, a comfortable and safe driving position… These and many other characteristics make the SUVs already represent the fastest growing segment in the automobile market today. In fact, and despite the pandemic, they represented 44% of car sales in Europe in 2021, a figure that has set a new historical record . And it is that in Spain more SUVs are already sold than traditional passenger cars since they began their foray 15 years ago . Moreover, for the first time, an SUV is the best-selling car in Spain, the Seat Arona, but second place goes to another SUV, the Hyundai Tucson. After its launch a few months ago, its sales have increased significantly.
Hyundai has decided to put all the meat on the grill. It has in its range several SUVs with a C, ECO and ZERO label made up of four models that cover all kinds of needs within this market segment. For its part, the Bayon and Kona offer cutting-edge solutions to drivers in the small SUV segment, while the Tucson does the same in the hard-fought midsize SUV segment. Finally, the Santa Fe is a premium alternative to large crossovers, with up to seven seats available , making it a draw for large families.
The entire Hyundai range has been completely renewed in the last year with the aim of offering the latest in innovation, digitization, comfort and safety. But even more so to support its magnificent results. In 2021, the Tucson became the best-selling model in Spain in the C-SUV segment , with 21,258 units. The Kona has also achieved good data, with 12,234 registrations; the Bayon, in its first year, 1,909 sales; while the Santa Fe closed the year with 721 units. As a whole, the range was responsible for 62.8% of the brand’s sales in Spain in 2021, with 36,122 registrations out of a total 57,508.
