London accommodation for large groups

Whether you’re planning a family celebration or a girl’s weekend in London, it can be difficult to find accommodation where everyone can stay together. You can book multiple hotel rooms, but you may end up on different floors and not spend as much time together as you expected. I asked HouseTrip , Europe’s largest website offering vacation rentals, to recommend London properties in their books that could cater to large groups and they had lots of suggestions in all areas of London.

These properties have many rooms and a lot of social space to be with your friends as well. Staying in any of these would be a much more relaxed option than a hotel with no fixed hours for meals and the freedom to feel at home. It can also be a better value to stay together and share the costs. (All prices correct in 2012.)

If you are planning a special night, you may consider hiring a Bartender to come to the property and prepare your cocktails while you prepare, and mobile beauty therapists can visit you and make you feel really special. Once you’re ready to go out for the night, don’t reserve a fancy car to take on your big night. And of course bring you back again.

North London: Hampstead

I have actually been to this Hampstead property and can confirm that it feels like a really classy home in a lovely quiet neighborhood. Friends stayed here and I visited and took a good look. The property is spread over three floors and has four bedrooms and the master bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with a Jacuzzi. Another bedroom has a shower / steam room and there is also a separate bathroom. There is a large living room on the first floor with a sofa bed and a single fold-out bed, then the ground floor has the kitchen and dining room, plus another living room.

  • Sleeping: up to 10 guests.
  • Price from: £ 605 per night.

North London: Hampstead

Another Hampstead area property, this may look like the set for a fashion magazine shoot, but instead, you can stay here and make it your own. There are two bedrooms and one has an en-suite bathroom. There is also a separate bathroom. Everything is really modern and of course includes wifi and cable TV. This apartment is not far from the previous one, so if you need accommodation for more than 10 people, this would be an excellent additional option.

  • Sleeping: up to 6 people.
  • Price from: £ 212 per night.

East London: Shoreditch

This large farmhouse has three double bedrooms and one twin bedroom, plus a single bed and two double futons in both living rooms. Yes, that is a lot of accommodation for a country house! The exposed brick and large windows hint at its former industrial life, but now there is even a garden and terrace to relax on Sunday morning. The perfect place to explore trendy Hoxton and Shoreditch, browse Spitalfields Market and Brick Lane Market, and hang out with good friends.

  • Sleeping: up to 8 people.
  • Price from: £ 532 per night.

West London: Shepherd’s Bush

On a quiet street in West London, this home is spread over three floors and even has a private garden, accessed through French doors from the kitchen. There are four bedrooms and two bathrooms. The open-plan living / dining room has hardwood floors and original fireplaces, and the dining table seats 10.

  • Sleeping: up to 8 people.
  • Price from: £ 484 per night.

West London: Notting Hill

This West London apartment is ideal for families. It spans three stories in the upper half of an elegant home near the Portobello Road market. There are two double bedrooms and one single bedroom, plus additional futons, making it ideal for large groups, but be aware that there are a lot of stairs. The flat is wonderfully light as it sits on a south-facing corner and is an ideal spot for celebrity-watching – David Cameron, the British Prime Minister, lives just three blocks away.

  • Sleeping: up to 10 guests.
  • Price from: £ 376 per night.

Sur from London: New Cross

This Victorian home on Telegraph Hill is ideal for a family gathering, featuring six bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a downstairs toilet, plus a sleeper sofa for additional guests. There is a large balcony, patio and garden with a trampoline. It is a quiet residential area, but still has excellent transport links.

  • Sleeping: up to 11 people.
  • Price from: £ 235 per night.

North London: Islington

This five-bedroom home is in a great location, close to Islington’s Upper Street, which is popular for shopping and has great bars and restaurants. It is a family home with a ground floor open plan kitchen, dining room and living room with sliding glass doors leading to the garden. There are three bathrooms and another living room on the first floor with a large collection of books to relax in.

  • Sleeping: up to 9 people.
  • Price from: £ 410 per night.

South London: Tooting Common

For luxury, this beautiful Victorian home on Tooting Common is incredibly large and extremely elegant. As if the interior design wasn’t special enough (it has been featured in many magazines), the house also overlooks the Common with an outdoor patio. There are seven bedrooms and the master suite includes a 20 foot bath and walk in shower area, plus separate walk-in closet. You can even invite more friends to dinner, as there is space for 16 people in the dining room.

  • Sleeping: up to 13 guests.
  • Price from: £ 1,444 per night.
