A science journalist reached millions of clicks with her Corona reporting on Youtube in 2020 and has now been honored for her work.
Berlin – The science journalist Mai Thi Nguyen-Kim (33) has been honored as “Journalist of the Year” for her reporting on the corona pandemic.
At the “Journalists of the Year 2020” award ceremony in Berlin, the doctor of chemistry said that at the beginning of the pandemic she was inspired by how much interest there had suddenly been in scientific topics. In the meantime, however, there is also a new “anti-science narrative” that has grown out of the pandemic.
The chemist and journalist has become known to many YouTube users since the outbreak of the pandemic through her science channel “maiLab”, which is part of the radio content network of ARD and ZDF.
The industry magazine “Medium Magazin” is the founder and organizer of the award ceremony. The undoped prize has existed since 2004, and an independent jury of experts determines the winners in several categories. The award is given to journalists who have taken up special topics and trends or who have distinguished themselves with research or editorial-strategic work.
