Berlin – Even after what felt like the hundredth round of talks on the corona situation, in the end you are not wiser about what politics is really up to and, above all, how it wants to enforce it. It starts with the composition of the group: The old government is only represented by the Chancellery Minister Helge Braun (CDU), who remains non-binding as ever. The SPD shines both as an old and as a potential new government partner due to its absence and, like its chancellor candidate Olaf Scholz, has stolen from responsibility in the last few days. Or was it just Maybrit Illner’s editorial team, as is so often the case, that had an unfortunate hand? It is even more annoying that the FDP is not part of the group, which had criminally talked about the situation in the months before the election.

But there is also great dissatisfaction with the Prime Minister’s Conference (MPK), which met again yesterday since August 12th and slept through the summer and autumn to make decisions. Even from within the own ranks, Schleswig-Holstein’s incumbent Daniel Günther criticized it harshly: “I never understood why some colleagues always waited for the MPK instead of acting in their own country.” Karin Göring-Eckardt (Greens) criticized at “Maybrit Illner” (ZDF), “that after the MPK, Mr. Söder and others did not adhere to the resolutions the next day.”

We need contact restrictions, the promotion of vaccinations and re-vaccinations.
Streek also points out once again that he does not know any expert who has not warned about autumn and winter. Obviously in vain! The summer could have been used for vaccination advertising and vaccination information. Now we have to re-vaccinate 1 million a day until the end of the year, otherwise we will still have big problems in 2022. But where is the concept, the structural plans?
Helge Braun hopes that every family doctor will get 20 vaccinations a day by Christmas: “Then we’ll be at 5 million.”

Only one of the guests exudes a somewhat believable optimism, at least as far as the situation in the intensive care units is concerned. Christian Karagiannidis praises the highly professional clinic staff and once again breaks a lance for the first vaccination: “This is the only real, sustainable solution.”
Göring-Eckardt wants to present herself again as a forward-looking politician and is promoting a proposal from the MPK: “We need mandatory vaccination advice that is aimed particularly at children and their parents.”
