If car fans have been discovering something during 2020, it is that Mazda has maintained its unchanging philosophy during its first centenary. The first hundred years of the Japanese firm are full of innovation, daring and know-how. A path to which they have wanted to pay tribute with the launch of the Centenario edition , which is inspired by its first R360 coupé model, with a burgundy roof and white bodywork. They have also explained to us how their beginnings were, marked by the destruction of the Hiroshima atomic bomb and the spirit of overcoming, which they call the Mukainada spirit. However, Mazda does not live in the past, it respects it. Hence its first 100% electric model, the Mazda MX-30 , remains committed to the driving experience but with a new approach.
The objective of the Jinba Ittai concept and the Kodo design, which we have already explained in other models of the Japanese firm, is to make the driver and the car one . To do this, the MX-30’s reactions must be instantaneous, faithful, and confident , with no discrepancies arising between human commands and the machine’s response. The search for this perfect relationship has led to the development of countless technologies, focused on capturing human reactions and transferring them naturally. They had achieved their goal in combustion models, so another more current challenge arose: transferring it to its first 100% electric and environmentally responsible model.
Mazda is by no means the first to introduce a compact electric SUV. For the Japanese, the scoop is not the most important thing, but the quality. More specifically the quality of driving. The Mazda MX-30 mounts an electric drive called e-Skyactiv , with a maximum power of 107 kW / 145 hp, a torque delivery of 270.9 Nm and front-wheel drive. From their development center they have worked to adapt systems such as G-vectoring, the single pedal or the steering wheel paddles, to a zero emission driving . The final model had to be comfortable, agile and easy to drive, as the Jinba Ittai driving experience dictates. To achieve this, not only mechanical innovations are needed, but also a harmonious, digital and technological cabin.
